Franz Schmid

Franz Schmid is a Managing Director of RMF Investment Management (U.S.A.) Corp. He is also a Deputy Head of Portfolio Management for RMF Investment Management, based in Pfäffikon, Switzerland.

Prior to joining RMF in 2002, he spent four years with Swiss Life Hedge Fund partners, and played a major role in the development of that company, with which he had been since inception. Previously, Mr. Schmid worked for Rentenanstalt/Swiss Life as vice-president and head of portfolio management, for three years. From 1987-1995 he worked for ELVIA Insurance Company (Allianz Suisse), where he was responsible for the management of ELVIA’s proprietary equity portfolios and the asset management of ELVIA’s pension fund. Prior to this he spent six years with Bank Vontobel, a major Swiss private bank, where he was responsible for the research of Japanese and south-east Asian stock-markets. Having previously worked for the Zürcher Kantonalbank as a financial analyst, Mr. Schmid worked as an organizational consultant at various companies between 1976-1978.

Mr. Schmid received his degree (lic. oec.) in business economics from the university of Zurich, Switzerland (master’s equivalent) in 1974.
